Case History – Marukan Rice Vinegar

THE CHALLENGE

Marukan creates the finest rice vinegars, but American consumers were hesitant to purchase, often lacking experience with the brand.

THE APPROACH

Create an integrated marketing program to update the brand look and challenge consumers to expand their palates with rice vinegar, demonstrating how with trusted chefs and brand influencers creating simple recipes. The campaign included social media, in-store promotions and recipe development.

THE RESULTS

Marukan achieved the highest dollar and unit sales growth in the U.S. market and is the current brand leader with 3x the dollar sales growth and 4x the unit sales growth versus its nearest competitor.

Case History – Unilever Hispanic Outreach

THE CHALLENGE

Unilever wanted displays and price-and-item feature ads to promote its brands in ways that engaged Hispanic customers.

THE APPROACH

Create a shopper-marketing promotion, focused demographically on a West Coast retailer serving the Hispanic community. Capitalizing on the popularity of family mealtime and grilling with the target audience, a sweepstakes was developed in partnership with Weber Grills and marketed to customers of Cardenas Markets, a key Hispanic retailer.

THE RESULTS

All sweepstakes and promotion integrated was handled by Epic with the sweepstakes being featured for one week in the retailer’s Weekly Ad Feature, three weeks in the store’s Savings Guide, and supported by in-store secondary location displays chain-wide.
